How do you wash a (100%) raw silk garment (long skirt)?

Q: Washing instructions indicate dry cleaning, however this is really expensive. Please do not only recommend brand named procucts, as these are usually only known in your particular country.

A: they do have products that you can dry clean in your dryer. however if you really cared about the item i'd wear it a few times and then spend the few bucks and get it professionally dry cleaned. this is why you need to look at the label before buying something. some things are just not worth the maintenence it takes to keep them clean.

How did women keep their legs warm while wearing skirts in the 1940's?

Q: I wear a lot of vintage 1940's clothing and I have a lot of skirts I would like to wear this winter. I get cold easily because I have some health problems and I am looking for a way to keep my legs warm when I wear skirts. I know tights are warmer than panyhose, but the only tights I can find are colored (black, blue, red, etc.) and women didn't wear colored stockings back then. How did women keep their legs warm? Is there such thing as silk long underwear that stops at the knee? Also, would nude colored fishnet tights suffice? I know now-a-days fishnets have a bit of a stigma with them. Would it be considered racy?

A: if you go to figure skating stores or dance stores, you can find flesh/skin colored tights. i mean, figure skaters wear them so that they could skate around with their dress so that would make sense to me. i suppose back then they would year stockings but yea, they are too cold to wear.

Q: i need to stitch a long skirt in silk fabric for a medium body....so let me knw

A: Buy a pattern. Read it. Whatever it says is how much you would need.

what length of skirt is the most attractive in your opinion? and what is in fashion now?

Q: I read that maxi skirts will be in fashion soon. What do you think is best - short, medium or long? I like long silk skirts and wanted to start wearing them instead of short skirts but afraid to look old-fashioned and boring. I thought it was pretty cool because the upper layer is see-through and moving all the time but still not sure. Just interested what do other people think and which length is now most popular. it's a Jlo long skirt I wanted to wear, may be you know what is it like. anybody tried it?

A: Maxi skirts are nice but I like the look of the knee length skirt the best. Mini and micro skirts don't look nearly as nice. At that length it's better to wear shorts. I don't know which skirt length is most popular right now but there are too many micros and minis out there. Maxi skirts seem to not be the most popular, but we'll see what happens this fall and winter.

What type of long skirts to wear at home?

Q: I'm willing to wear 40 inch long skirts at home during the winter but i can't see anything but flowy layered skirts. I've been used to wearing trousers but my bf wants me to wear skirts even when it's summer. Please give me some advices on what type of skirts to use on summer...cotton or silk etcetera. p:s: a little bit of a flirty touch is what i'm looking for.
