Historic Photos of Mobile
[Price: $31.98] [Rate] [Comments (0)] [By: BetterWorld.com - New, Used, Rare Books & Textbooks]
Mobile's long history includes joyous Mardi Gras celebrations and tragic natural disasters. Civil War and segregation, shipping and manufacturing, dirt streets and booming wharves are part of its fascinating story. Cargo shipped to and from its busy docks gradually shifted from cotton to timber to bananas to manufactured goods. In World War II, its population grew exponentially as the city became an important shipbuilder for America's arsenal. Historic Photos of Mobile transports readers to a time of hoop skirts and horse-drawn carriages, then shows them how the city changed during the first half of the twentieth century. Timeless, rarely seen, black-and-white images capture historic colleges, family-owned shops, the longest American flag ever displayed, hurricane damage, social change, tall ships, and scenes of daily life in generations long gone.

What's the best way to dress up uniforms in high school?
Q: Shirts:White Polo or hunter green polo style with school logo. White long/short sleeved shirts oxford style may be worn. All shirts must have collars and remain tucked in while on campus. Only white undershirts may be worn under polos. - Slacks:Slacks must be plain khaki or black. Must be on or above the hips (no low rise, low cut, nor sagging). Capri-style and cut-off or frayed hems as well as excessively tight slacks are prohibited. No shorts, cargo, and painter’s pants. Skirts:Skirts may be plain black or khaki, knee-length or longer. Slits must be knee-length or below. No Lowrise, lowcut skirts or excessive tight skirts. No hoodies, onlye green or white sweaters/sweatervests. Shoes:Black or brown, closed in heel/toe. Belts:Brown or Black. Accessories: Small stud earrings only. One bracelet at a time. No headbands. Scrunchies must be white/black/hunter green.A: That sucks!!! Wear make-up. Wear chunky jewelry that matches the uniform to make it look good. Wear a white scrunchies with like bows or something.
Girls would you date a guy who wore skirts?
Q: I was just wondering if there were any girls out there who would date a guy if he went out wearing skirts, nothing frilly but like long khaki or denim cargo skirts. Not trying to dress like a woman, just wearing a skirt instead of pants. I am 19, 100% straight, and just think that guys should have the wardrobe options that women do. If you would go out with a guy who wore a skirt would you want him to shave his legs or not? Also would you like him to wear tights or pantyhose if it went with the outfit? I am going to be an architect once I graduate college so I think that I could wear a skirt while working in my office then. Why is it when I asked the question do you think it should be socially acceptable for guys to wear skirts and dresses all the girls said yes and then on this one they all say they wouldn't date a guy who wore a skirt. Why notA: if you can wear the skirt and make it look hip, and really be able to make it look like a fashion statement like a european model of some sort like those of calvin klein i wouldnt mind dating you of course i would date you, but well unfortunately for many women that would seem so unusual, but anyway find that one woman who would love you and adore you no matter what clothes you wear, its ok that you are free spirited and open minded i think that is a plus on your part.
Work uniform question?
Q: Where I work we have to wear the company's t-shirt, and then the guys can wear khaki shorts or pants, either regular or cargo. The girls have to wear the same shirt, and khaki pants, shorts, capris or skirts, they can even wear like jumper dresses over their shirts. Are they allowed to do this or do they have to allow men to wear skirts if they want to. I don't want to dress like a girl with makeup and hair and stuff, but I would like to wear like a long khaki cargo skirt. The ones that I would like to wear are down to like midway between your knees and feet, or all the way down full length. I just think that skirts are much more comfortable and working in retail for long hours on my feet I would just really like to, but I don't want to get in trouble. What would women think of me if I did this because I am straight and looking for a girlfriend. I have walked around in one a lot in the house, and even at Walmart once, and I really like the way that they feel, they are much more comfortable than pants. When I went to Walmart the one time it was cold so I wore tights. Why would girls not accept this, guys accept girls wearing pants, and sometimes boxers, so how is that any different than a guy wearing a skirt and sometimes tights?A: Technically they can not do this because it is discrimination, but if it is written in the company rule book then you have to go by that. It is the same thing as saying that women have to keep their makeup and hair in a professional manner. I would talk to your boss and see what (s)he thinks. You might risk a lot of hostility if you try this without consulting a higher up first. As a woman, I would think that it was amusing to see a guy in a skirt, but i would not be able to take you seriously.
Ballet coverup question...?
Q: Have any of you who take ballet classes ever seen a guy put on a long skirt, like a denim or khaki cargo skirt over his ballet uniform. I am talking about like after class just for a coverup to keep warm instead of changing from their uniform into their street clothes if they were just going home. What would you think about a guy wearing a skirt as a cover up over his tights and leotard just to go from the ballet class to car to home, or maybe if he had to make a stop at a store or something, but just so he wasn't running around in only a leotard and tights. Well what do you think, and have you seen this anywhere?A: uhhm sweat pants are what they normally wear...it depends on your studio...if your studio doesn't have strict uniform policies just pull on a pair of sweats or if you dont want to wear those put on a hoodie. theres hardly any clothes except any kind of sweat pants, hoodies, ect. in dance studios, at least the one im at. i usually wear (but im a girl so this doens't really help much i guess lol) but capri sweat pants or long ones and a tank top over my leo and tights. just because i get cold easily and those are easy to dance in. it just depends on personal and dancing comfort..
Work/School uniform question?
Q: If the uniform code reads that males must wear khaki colored shorts or pants, can be cargo. Females may wear khaki colored shorts, pants, or skirts of appropriate length, may be cargo. Is there anything that they can do if a male wanted to wear a skirt with his uniform? If he kept it at an appropriate length, and it was like a long khaki cargo skirt, could he get by with wearing it?A: Ummm, he could, but he would get beat up by nerds and a couple of the teachers/managers.

Running Free | Shadow Of The Moon
|From the movie Running Free| Lyric: In the shadow of the moon, She danced in the starlight Whispering a haunting tune To the night... Velvet skirts spun 'round and 'round Fire in her stare In the woods without a sound No one cared... Through the darkened fields entranced, Music made her poor heart dance, Thinking of a lost romance... Long ago... Feeling lonely, feeling sad, She cried in the moonlight. Driven by a world gone mad She took flight... "Feel no sorrow, feel no pain, Feel no hurt ...
